August - September 2010August 13: Studio Day – Collage
In art lingo, collage simply means “to glue,” and is the assembling of different images or materials to create a new whole. The act of using images found from a variety of sources (magazines, junk mail, newspaper, etc.) to generate something completely different than their original intent, can be a fun and fail-safe way to begin experimenting with art. The focus of our group will be to create positive images as a source of inspiration and strength. ~~~[~~~ August 20: Studio Day – Acrylics: Textures, Layers & Metallics Expand your creative limits, as you learn new and experimental ways of expressing yourself with water-based, acrylic paints and experimental techniques. Emphasis will be on acrylic layering and using paint as a transparent, translucent and opaque water medium. There will be continual demonstrations on how to achieve line, depth and texture in your work. Finishing techniques will be introduced and demonstrated. ~~~[~~~ August 27: Visiting Artist Marypat Kulak – Knitting Instruction Referred to as the “new yoga,” knitting is a hot trend right now.
